The biggest thing in your van

The bed is the biggest thing in any van, so its height and direction shape everything else. We build electric bed lifts, fixed bed platforms, bed frames integrated into flares, and pull-out slides and trays for the garage underneath. For fixed platforms we have used Flatline Van Co bed systems, White Top Adventures platforms and Tec Vanlife bed panels.

An electric elevator bed rides up its tracks during the day, opening a tall garage for bikes or a lounge, and comes down at night. Systems people compare include the Tec Vanlife elevator bed made for Sprinter, Transit and ProMaster, and the Happijac lift from Lippert, which mounts to strong wall structure.

How we do it

  1. Measure

Ceiling height, garage needs, bike heights and wall structure.

  2. Structure

Tracks or frames fastened to the van's structure.

  3. Build

Bed frame, motors and limit switches, or platform and slides.

  4. Wire

Fused 12V circuit with a manual override for lifts.

  5. Test

Load, travel limits and safe stopping checked.

What to know before you buy

Measure your bikes

Raised bed height has to clear your tallest bike or gear.

Pinch points

Lifts need limit switches and care around hands and gear.

Secure for driving

The bed must be locked or stowed per the maker's instructions.

Power use

Lifts only draw power while moving.

Questions about bed lifts

How much power does a bed lift use?

Only while it moves, typically under a minute at a time.

Can you add a lift to my existing build?

Often, depending on how the walls are built. Send us photos and give us a call. It might be a big project.

Can the bed go into my flares?

Yes. We build bed frames that integrate with flares.
