Story
I'm Greg Palis, founder of Alt Life Vans. As a young Electrical Engineering student, I got hooked on rock climbing. I spent the summer before my senior year of college living and working in ​Alaska and traveling the inter-mountain west. The experiences and people I encountered kindled a desire for a different kind of life. A life where I could live and play in wild places with all the essentials and nothing more. A life where I could be where I wanted without setting roots.

I built my van in a driveway with a lot of trial and error and it became my full time home for an amazing year and a half. It also took me to Salt Lake City, Utah where my need for settling and growing became strong. I sold my van to a traveling musician and poured myself into remodeling a cabin in the mountains above the city. A few years later I started building vans again.

I only ever wanted to build a few beautiful vans a year, work with a few amazing clients a year, and deliver vans I was proud of. That's still what I do.

The team has grown a little and now Brandon Jesewitz, another mountain dwelling, nature loving, engineer (mechanical this time) works with me to bring the latest and greatest materials, computer aided design, and CNC manufacturing to our vans.
